It is the evening of the very first Textile session. I left college just over an hour ago and now I'm sat at home collecting my thoughts about the class with Tom tonight. Words that pop up in my head include; Challenging. Interesting. Frightening. Enjoyable. Bewildering.
The sewing machine looks like a confusing piece of kit to a person such as myself who is unfamiliar with them. However when Tom showed us last years work I found it really interesting. To be honest I do have a very cheap sewing machine that doesn't work very well. I bought it second hand about a year ago and tried using it once with help from my mum who kindly set it up for me. However with not knowing where to start or what to do with the thing I ended putting it in the corner of my living room and forgetting about it. Tonight I realise that I should spend a lot more time with the piece of kit and try to overcome my fear of needles.
As for the ink project, I regret chosing an outside location to draw as it was too dark and the reflection on the window confused me. Never the less I enjoyed the quick fifteen minutes and look forward to trying some more ink artwork.
First things first though. Will this blog work? Will I be able to add people?
